Emma Richardson -

#feralkids. Oil on cavas, 162  x 114 cm.

"Our society's fears of the so-called feral child has, in part, influenced this body of work. To be feral, in a non-literal sense, is to be free from parental or adult supervision and there is a wildness associated with that. It is also very unsettling to think of children being in control because that would undoubtedly lead to anarchy. There are countless books and films, as well as true and mythological stories, on this subject such as: Clockwork Orange, if..., Lord of the Flies; Peter Pan; Romulus and Remus; Brighton Rock to name a few."
